Pilots and Aircraft Owners must invest heavily in new equipment: ELT’s. Mode S transponders, 8.33 kHz radio’s etc. These are all mandatory measures caused by the increasing number of air traffic. One would think that these investments eventually would be compensated, but what happens instead? Air Traffic Control snatches more and more airspace and closes it for VFR-traffic. For AOPA Netherlands the limit is the imminent closure of the Rotterdam TMA and the recently established Special Rules Zones around the Schiphol CTR.
This is the reason AOPA Netherlands comes into action and calls upon everyone to sign this petition for the maintenance of sufficient VFR-airspace. The petition will be presented to the Board of Directors of Air Traffic Control the Netherlands in September. Go to www.aopa.nl and leave your digital autograph!

With this petition all signatories call upon you to open up more airspace for VFR-traffic. The General Aviation invests in new equipment, as a result of which VFR and IFR traffic can safely share the same airspace. In short we ask you to restore the optimum balance between different interests as mentioned on your website!
